For entry onto an undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree a grade of C6 or higher is generally accepted from English Language in the West African Secondary School Certificate in Education.
For entry onto the MBChB a minimum grade of C4 in English Language in the West African Secondary School Certificate in Education is required.

You can apply for Year 1 of an undergraduate degree with a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). The marks required vary depending on which subject the student is applying to at Aston University.
Engineering and Science subjects will require specific subjects.
You can apply for a one-year Master's programme with an undergraduate degree from a recognised Ugandan university.
You should have at least a 2.1 from a Ugandan university. The specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Ugandan university from which you have graduated.
You must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree if you are applying for finance, engineering, science or social science-based subjects. There are a number of conversion programmes in business and management which are appropriate for students from any subject background.
You can apply for the MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of three years post-graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least a 2.1 from a recognised Ugandan university.
You can apply for the Executive MBA programme with an undergraduate degree in any subject area from an overseas institution, and a minimum of five years post-graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least a 2.1 from a recognised Ugandan university. This programme takes 2.5 years in total and is taught in blocks of six days at a time. It requires the commitment of the student to travel to the UK six times per year.
Each of Aston's schools of study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more.
You have to submit a detailed research proposal outlining your intended research topic, its objectives, proposed method of research and an indication of how the proposed research topic relates to previous work by other researchers.

Sub-Saharan African Regional Scholarship of £3,000.
To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of a Sub-Saharan country and hold an offer to study at undergraduate or postgraduate taught level at the Aston University, Birmingham campus for September 2025, January or April 2026. This is an automatic award and no application is required.
Excluded programmes: MBA, OSPAP, MBChB, Physician Associate and Adult Nursing programmes
Please note: Scholarships cannot be combined. Students are awarded the highest value scholarship available to them.
