Discover Aston Students’ Union’s societies and events.

A place to get healthy

If you’re into team sports, want to get fit, or just sweat it out in a sauna, we have plenty of options for you right here on campus. The Woodcock Sports Centre, a recently refurbished Victorian building, is right on campus and has a 120-station fitness suite, outdoor pitches, studio spaces, sauna and steam room, and a beautifully restored Grade II swimming pool (the oldest in Birmingham).

A place to reach out

Our student hub provides a range of onsite services to reflect this, including multi-faith chaplaincy, prayer rooms, counselling, LGBT+ students’ society, support for international students, and support for students with disabilities.

Postgraduate Mentoring Scheme

We help integrate our newly arriving postgraduate students by matching them with an experienced postgraduate student who acts as a peer mentor. Having the support and guidance of a postgraduate mentor can help you to settle in quickly, and make the most of your time at the University. The nature of this support is primarily pastoral, and may include support such as practical advice and tips about how you can integrate into the University and your study subject.

This support is available in the first year of postgraduate study and usually takes place face-to-face or online (e-mentoring). This is a voluntary ‘peer mentoring’ scheme which is flexible, confidential, and fits around you the student and your availability.

The Mature Students' Aston (MSA) Society

The Aston Mature Students Aston Society, is run by Aston mature students for Aston mature students, and provides a forum for students from across the University, from all study subject areas. The Society is co-ordinated by a student committee, and all mature students are welcome to join. Throughout the year, the MSA organise a variety of exciting, on and off campus, events and activities with the aim to enhance your time at Aston. Engagement also include activities for families to get involved in.
