With her range of industry, research and teaching experience, Angela is well-placed to deliver both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching to Aston Business School students.
She began her career in her home country, Brazil, working in production planning at aircraft manufacturer Embraer before moving to aggregates business Votorantim Cimentos. Here, Angela worked in cement marketing and aftersales, and gained experience of how a company can sell a commodity product by focusing on delivering capability and services to the customer, in this case focusing on selling a capability to provide homes.
After a further spell at Embraer in tooling planning, Angela took the decision to follow an ambition she has had since childhood and pursue a career in teaching. She spent four years as a lecturer on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses at two Business Schools in Brazil, drawing on her experience in industry and her ongoing research as part of an agribusiness research group to teach business planning, marketing and strategic planning. She also achieved her EngD during this time, which focused on efforts to improve the efficiency and/or effectiveness of fruit and vegetables supply chains in order to fulfill demand.
Angela moved to the UK in 2011 to work on a project at Aberdeen University using technology such as apps, the IoT and RFID tagging to improve product distribution for rural businesses. A return to her passion, teaching, brought Angela to Aston. She sees her role as an opportunity to help develop the next generations of professionals, preparing them to meet the current and future needs of industry.
