AFTER YOU'VE APPLIED - WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Find out how it all works once your application is in.
When you have already met the entry requirements, we can then guarantee you a place on your course of choice by making you an unconditional offer.
This means you will still need to fulfil certain criteria (e.g. entry grades) before you can be accepted onto the course. You will be accepted onto the course provided you achieve the necessary criteria.
If you don’t meet the entry requirements for your chosen course but we really like your application, we may make you an offer for an alternative course. This is a course that we feel may interest you and suit your strengths, based on your application.
We have a long-standing commitment to social mobility, so applicants from underrepresented backgrounds may be made a lower conditional offer than our standard offer.
Some of our courses require you to attend an interview as part of the application process to demonstrate your enthusiasm and skill set for the course. If you are invited to an interview, you will be notified by the admissions team in advance. If you have been invited for an interview, please note this is a compulsory element of the application process.
When you’ve received decisions for all your university choices, you’ll need to reply to your offers via your UCAS Hub.
If you’ve received multiple conditional offers, you can choose one course as your Firm (first) choice and one as your Insurance (second) choice.
You’ll need to decline any other offers you’ve received. If you’ve received an unconditional offer that you’d like to accept, your place is confirmed.
If you have applied for a course at Aston University, you will be invited to one of our Offer Holder Days.
You’ll get hands-on with your chosen subject - taking part in interactive workshops and taster lectures, as well as meeting lecturers and current students from your course.
You can also take the opportunity to speak to our admissions team and student support services and spend time with other offer holders from your course. This is your chance to explore campus, spend time in your academic department, look around the Students’ Union, the Library, and more.
If you are invited to an interview, you will be notified by the admissions team in advance, and we will send you information in regard to this (including any pre-interview tasks to complete) to make sure you have enough time to prepare and know what to expect.
Some interviews take place on campus, and some are conducted online using Microsoft Teams.
If you have been invited for an interview, please note this is a compulsory element of the application process. You can find out if an interview or multiple mini-interviews (MMIs) are required on our individual course webpages.
Once you’ve accepted your place, explore our on-campus accommodation Aston Student Village. Staying here will mean you’ll be a couple of minutes walk from all your lecture halls and the library, perfect if you’re someone who likes to leave it until the last second to get out of bed.
Lots of our students prefer to stay at home while studying with us and commute to their lecturers – the choice is yours.
Aston University has a great location in the centre of Birmingham, one of the UK’s most vibrant cities. Explore our new student pages to find out key dates, look through the pre-arrival guide and explore more about student life at Aston University, and how you can get involved.
In the weeks prior to you starting your course, we will provide you with all the information you need to help you get settled into campus life, including how to enrol once you get here.
