Professional Placements

One of the great things about Aston is our focus on employability, and we’ll work with you to secure a placement that suits your career goals. We pride ourselves on our strong links with business, industry, and professions, and we firmly believe that knowledge is nothing without real-world experience.

The vast majority of our courses offer a placement year, where you’ll get the opportunity to put your skills into practice, interact with professionals and engage in some all-important networking – with an average salary of £16,000 to boot. For students who are unable to secure a traditional placement due to the challenges of the global pandemic, our team has developed an innovative professional portfolio placement model.

Aston’s professional work placements can greatly improve your chances of securing a graduate job. They ensure you leave university with experience, confidence and contacts - so you’ll be better prepared for your future career.

Careers and Placements team

Our dedicated Careers and Placements team are with you from the time you arrive as a first year, through your placement year and first graduate role, all the way to three years post-graduation. They help you find your first part-time job, assist you in securing your perfect placement, check your CV, practise interview skills with you, teach you how to network with employers, give you advice for going abroad, support you through the ups and downs, keep you motivated, and help you find your dream job.;
