Campus Life at Aston

A green haven in the heart of Birmingham

In the heart of Birmingham city, you’ll find Aston University’s single-site campus – a place to learn, be social, relax, and belong. Our campus is filled with pockets of greenery and spaces to sit and relax in the open air, including the Chancellor’s lake and its geese. Our brand new Students’ Union building opened in 2019 and was shortlisted in the WhatUni awards in 2020. You will also find many interesting pieces of outdoor art and sculpture to admire. We take great pride in our environment and are proud to be the 9th most sustainable university in the UK, according to People & Planet.

A place to learn

We provide our students with some of the best learning and research environments in the world. As well as modern lecture theatres, we have clinics for students to practice in, such as the Aston Brain Centre and Aston Eye Clinic, and a range of specialist laboratories, including our £3.9million virtual reality facility.

A place to study

Our library is a beautiful place to study. Its iconic glass façade lets in plenty of natural light, and you can choose between private study areas or flexible meeting pods, which are perfect for group work. The library is open 24/7 during term-time, providing flexibility for our early birds and night owls.

A place to eat, drink and be merry

Nourish at Aston provides catering for our onsite cafes and restaurants. They use only the freshest ingredients to provide a range of menu choices including gluten free, Halal, vegetarian and vegan options. If you fancy a social drink with friends, we have two pubs on site – The Gosta Green and Sacks of Potatoes – and The Lounge, our brand new bar and restaurant which can be found in the Students’ Union building. Nourish has also recently launched a range of food delivery packages for students in campus accommodation.

A place of safety

We have an award-winning security service on campus who are looking out for your welfare 24/7. Our SafeZone app is designed to keep students safe on campus and gives a direct link to our security team.

A place in the second city

Whether you’re a newcomer or a born-and-bred Brummie, you’ll never get bored of exploring our city. Packed with culture, creativity and top-notch cuisine, as well as being home to one of the youngest populations in Europe, we’re confident you’ll fit right in.
