The DBA programme is designed for experienced business executives wanting to leverage their experience with cutting-edge, research-based skills that will enable them to successfully tackle business challenges and make an impact on industry. You will combine advanced theory and contemporary business research to develop a comprehensive data-driven research project, focusing on a discipline of your choice. Delivered in partnership with the triple-accredited Aston Business School, you will gain specialist knowledge and research support in areas such as accounting, law, marketing, strategy, economics, finance and entrepreneurship.

The Aston DBA is a minimum 4-year programme and has a maximum registration period for students of 6 years. It is a part-time doctorate designed for practicing professional managers and therefore the completion period will be dependent on individual circumstances, and how much time a student can commit to this research degree. Completion is by way of a written thesis and successful defence at a VIVA. Fees which include the cost of a supervisory team allocated to each student therefore vary depending on the completion time.
A Fee for years 5 and 6 cannot be pro-rated. It will be charged in full regardless of what point within that 12-month period you submit your thesis.
Subject to approval, Aston may approve a Leave of Absence if a student has circumstances which prevent them from progressing. This cannot be requested retrospectively. Further information on this course.
