Course objectives
- Develops the management and leadership skills of practising engineers. Particular emphasis is placed on taking a strategic view of business and how, most effectively, to work with and lead a diverse range of people who represent the business stakeholders
- Enables you to define better their roles in an engineering business, particularly in the areas of manufacturing and new product development, and to make an effective transition from being a technical specialist to becoming a managerial leader
- Provides where possible, an opportunity for you to link the taught modules to industrial practice through a dissertation linked to industry
- Enhances lifelong learning skills and personal development to enable you to work independently and contribute to business and society
Modules
Entry requirements
A 2:2 or higher UK Honours Degree or overseas equivalent, with some quantitative content (e.g. engineering or science) or evidence of quantitative ability i.e. A Level Mathematics. Two years of experience in an appropriate engineering post is an advantage. You will need to provide one professional reference – at least one must be from an academic referee and a completed application form.

More information on fees
The United Kingdom government has confirmed that European Union (EU), other European Economic Area (EEA) and Swiss nationals commencing academic courses in England from August 2021 will no longer be charged the same tuition rates as UK students.
Tuition fees for students are reviewed annually and may increase in subsequent years in line with inflation linked to the Retail Price Index (RPI) to take account of the University’s increased costs of delivering the Programme. Any such increase shall always be in accordance with the law. When undertaking a placement year, a placement year fee applies.
