Course outline and modules

This completely online course is suitable for graduates of all disciplines and will equip you with a wide range of business skills demanded by employers worldwide – at a time that suits you. The part-time, flexible structure of the course allows you to complete your studies alongside your normal professional commitments. 

You will develop managerial thinking by delving into the principles, concepts and practices of successful management in national and global contexts. The course will encourage you to practice strategic decision making, you will develop an understanding of the fundamental aspects of the global business environment that influence business decisions and behaviour. You will also gain the confidence and experience needed to practically apply all of your knowledge in the working environment.

Core modules

Marketing (15 credits)

This module will develop the skills and competencies necessary to critically analyse organisational marketing options.

Organisational Behaviour (15 credits)

This is an introduction to human behaviour in organisations. Further, it aims to discuss organisational processes from the context of individuals and organisations, and from different theoretical perspectives.

Strategic Management (15 credits)

This module is an introduction to the main concepts and thought processes in strategic management and to enable you to analyse complex situations and make appropriate strategic recommendations.

Research Methods for Business Students (15 credits)

The module aims to develop the skills of defining a management or leadership topic of relevance and interest and selecting appropriate methodologies in order to address identified research questions.

Entrepreneurial Strategies (15 credits)

This module aims to equip you with the analytical and strategic skills necessary to start a successful small business. It also aims to contribute to an 'entrepreneurial culture' amongst Aston postgraduates and encourage you to consider entrepreneurship as an alternative to employment.

International Business (15 credits)

The aim of this module is to provide a systematic understanding of the fundamental aspects of the global business environment that influence business decisions and behaviour.

Effective Management Consultancy (15 credits)

This module will help you to understand different approaches to consulting projects. You will explore what is good and what is bad consulting practise. It will also prepare you to carry out successful consulting projects within organisations, either as an external consultant or as a line manager given a one-off problem-solving task.

International Marketing Management (15 credits)

The module aims to provide awareness of the range of issues that, within an international context, constitute a holistic approach to the design and management of operations systems taking into considerations their social and environmental impacts.

 

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

•   A good UK honour degree (minimum lower second class) or an equivalent overseas degree recognised by Aston University.

•    Official academic transcript(s) of your grades to date. Maths and English required at a high school level as minimum

•    Two written recommendations, preferably at least one academic referee

International students

•    An official academic transcript, with an official English translation

Language Requirements

International students must meet English language requirements outlined below or an equivalent English language qualification recognised by Aston University:

•    TOEFL: A minimum score of 93
•    IELTS: An overall minimum score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 for each individual IELTS skill
 

     

 

Fees and scholarships

(2023/2024): £9,500

Tuition fees for students are reviewed annually and may increase in subsequent years in line with inflation linked to the Retail Price Index (RPI) to take account of the University’s increased costs of delivering the Programme. Any such increase shall always be in accordance with the law.
