My Development Conversation
My Development Conversation (My DC) is a new approach to how we hold performance reviews.
My Development Conversation is about setting your work priorities for the year, aligned to the University's strategic plan, your department or service plan and underpinned by our values.
It is about having positive, future focused conversations throughout the year rather than simply at the beginning and at the end.
It is also about you taking responsibility for your performance and development and owning your role in the process.
For all staff and managers. Once you've had your My Development Conversation, you will need to record, update and keep track of your work priorities using the Aston Staff Portal.
Available to complete on demand is the Introduction to My Development Conversation for Managers module. In this module you will learn about the underpinning principles, the MDC cycle, tips for having effective conversations and using the staff portal to input and approve priorities.
Also available throughout the year are sessions to support managers hold effective performance conversations. These sessions will be delivered through remote learning or face to face delivery and include:
A guide on holding an end of year review covers how to have powerful conversations and respond to excellent performance, encourage reflection as well as how to address underperformance.
