Aston University has a particular focus on using its research to tackle real-world problems and to provide practical solutions. That’s why the University believes in investing resources to help researchers realise the full impact potential of their research.
We have five different funds, each designed to help you to generate, enhance and accelerate the impact of your research. We also encourage and support researchers in gathering evidence of their research impact.
Wherever possible, we align our funding calls. You are welcome to apply to more than one fund at the same time to support different (but not duplicate) elements of the same project, as long as your proposal meets the criteria for each respective award programme. You’ll need to make a strong value-for-money case if you do make a joint application.
Our funds are aimed primarily at supporting research-active staff, including contract staff. However, our UKRI Impact Acceleration Account funds are also used to run impact-related events, which are open to both staff and PhD students.
Take a look at what we offer:
BBSRC Impact Acceleration Account
The award from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) will allow our researchers to make a real ‘step change’ in realising the impact potential of their research.
EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account
Aston's Impact Acceleration Account from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council supports impact in engineering, physics, maths, computer science and many related areas.
Research Impact Fund
The Aston Research Impact Fund is designed to support all our researchers, ensuring that the real-world impact potential of Aston’s research is fully optimised, and that our research impact is robustly evidenced.
Proof of Concept Fund
Information on the Proof of Concept Fund will be available soon. Please contact the University's Technology Transfer Manager, firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to find out about the Fund.
