Aston University has a particular focus on using its research to tackle real-world problems and to provide practical solutions. That’s why the University believes in investing resources to help researchers realise the full impact potential of their research.
We have six different funds, each designed to help you to generate, enhance and accelerate the impact of your research. We also encourage and support researchers in gathering evidence of their research impact.
Wherever possible, we align our funding calls. You are welcome to apply to more than one fund at the same time to support different (but not duplicate) elements of the same project, as long as your proposal meets the criteria for each respective award programme. You’ll need to make a strong value-for-money case if you do make a joint application.
Our funds are aimed primarily at supporting research-active staff, including contract staff. However, our UKRI Impact Acceleration Account funds are also used to run impact-related events, which are open to both staff and PhD students.

Please note - the relevant funding teams are always happy to provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants, but all decisions are final and there is no right of appeal.
