Research Degree Programmes

Choosing to study for a research degree in health and life sciences at Aston University will give you the opportunity to become part of a world-class research community alongside leading academics.

In the last Research Excellence Framework (REF2021), the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions:

  • 83.2% of our publications submitted for Allied Health were at least internationally excellent, with 23.5% being world-leading
  • 81.3% of our impact had at least very considerable reach and significance, with 43.8% being outstanding
  • 100% of our environment was at least internationally excellent, with 50% being world-leading.

We offer an extensive range of PhD  and Professional Doctorate opportunities, including a Master of Research, in subject areas including audiology, biosciences, neuroscience, optometry, pharmacy and psychology.
