The Aston Neuroimaging Facility is a key research facility within the Aston Institute of Health & Neurodevelopment (IHN), exploiting advanced technology to explore brains, development, and healthy behaviours.

Our research in children spans across four cross-cutting areas of research strength (social cognition/autism, reading/dyslexia, epilepsy, eating/nutrition, and extends from ‘bench to bedside’. Our discoveries become the next advances in healthcare and educational policy for literacy, eating and neurodevelopmental disorders.  IHN's capabilities in advanced technologies, child-centred assessments/technologies and Care Quality Commission registered clinical service create a rich hub of opportunity for research.

The research facilities include:

  • 3T Siemens Trio Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), with research radiographer support
  • Elekta Neuromag  Triux ™ Magnetoencephalography (MEG), with chair adjustment system for optimised paediatric recordings
  • Electroencephalography (EEG)
  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
  • Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered clinical service (Aston University Imaging)
