Aston Centre of Engineering for Sustainable Development

We are a group of active researchers with a track record in carrying out high-quality research in collaboration with national and international partners as linked to our three research themes, namely, Sustainable Energy, Sustainable Processes and Design, Water and the Environment.

Our goal is to build a significant research workforce to develop excellent, impactful, collaborative, and financially sustainable research in the area of Engineering for Sustainable Development. Our research addresses each of SDG2, SDG3, SDG6, SDG7, SDG9, SDG12, SDG13 and SDG17.

Objectives:

• Carry out high quality research to support sustainable development, as related to the Centre's themes, within the UK and abroad.
• Collaborate with national and international partners to strengthen capacity to help address the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Engage with the public to ensure the impact of our projects is delivered to address real needs in the right way.
• Disseminate high quality research outputs and case studies to support the REF applications.
• Develop an interdisciplinary research community at Aston with a focus on sustainable development.
