Aston Business School was my Number 1 choice. Aston’s dedication towards their students was very evident from the beginning. As an offer holder during the pandemic, when I had doubts about a million different things, every department member I was in contact with helped me deal with it – no matter how benign the issue seemed to be.

Why did you pick Aston University?

Aston Business School was my Number 1 choice. Aston’s dedication towards their students was very evident from the beginning. As an offer holder during the pandemic, when I had doubts about a million different things, every department member I was in contact with helped me deal with it – no matter how benign the issue seemed to be.

From deferring my course to a later date, to arriving in the UK and start of course – it was a smooth transition. The main attraction was of course the Careers and Placements department. They (Iwan Griffiths) had multiple webinars meant specifically for offer holders in India and they assured us that they would do everything in their power to ensure to keep the placements going despite the on-going pandemic.

What are your career ambitions and how is your course helping you achieve these?

I accepted Aston’s offer with one goal in mind – It was to be able to gain as much knowledge and experience as I could in the fields of Marketing and Sustainability Development.

I have chosen these modules as my optional modules as it is available in my course. By slowly building contacts, I was able to secure an internship in Sustainability development in my second term which also helped me in another compulsory module – Aston Global Advantage (AGA).

Do you have any advice to future students thinking of studying a postgraduate course at Aston University?

My advice to future students would be to firstly know what you want to study, keeping in mind that this will affect your employability, and start by researching thoroughly on the course you are planning to choose. Take the time to review the modules, especially the optional modules, and work around them.

Secondly, start building your network. On campus, with your module leaders, mentors, fellow students, on LinkedIn etc. Get to know the people you’re going to be around on a daily basis for over a year. You will never know from where the opportunities will come by. You will be surprised.

Take the advice from the Careers and Placements team seriously. They know what they are doing and trust me they work really hard to get relevant placements to students from different streams. Keep an eye out for Aston futures notifications and emails.
