Aston University is delighted to announce an addition to its portfolio of scholarships with the launch of its Humanitarian Scholarship(s) for two international taught postgraduate applicants selected from those who have secured an offer for September 2025.

The full scholarship will waive tuition fees and cover reasonable living costs up to a threshold. 

Summary of eligibility criteria

  1. Open to applicants who are considered to: a. be at serious risk as a direct result of armed conflict, and/or b. be displaced inside or have been forced to leave your home country within the last three years because of armed conflict c. be unable to access or complete higher education
  2. This status must be held outside of the UK. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from individuals who are currently in the UK or EU.
  3. Have an offer to commence study at the University from September 2025 for a Taught Postgraduate Programme (level 7.)
  4. Have not previously studied, at any level, in the UK or EU.
  5. Have an overall IELTS score of 6.0 (obtained in the two years prior to entry).

The scheme is open to applications from 1st October 2024. The first round of applications will close on 28th February 2025. Apply, when you have received your Offer using the form which will be available here.

Notes

The University resides within a City of Sanctuary (established 2015) Students on one of the Ukraine visa schemes (Homes for Ukraine, Ukraine Family Scheme, Ukraine Extension Scheme) have access to Student Finance England and can apply for tuition fees and maintenance loan funding through them.

The level of risk to which the applicant is exposed and the applicant’s financial circumstances establishing whether they have received funding from any other source to support their studies will be considered within the selection process.
