Before starting your application, please make sure you have the following:
- Copies of your university transcripts, for each year of study
- If you haven’t completed your degree yet, please submit the grades that you have achieved so far. If necessary, certified English translations of all documents should be provided.
- Copies of your English language qualifications (if necessary – please check our English Language Requirements as this may not be required)
- Two references (one academic and one employer)
- A personal statement (250 words max)
Your statement should explain your interest in your chosen subject area, highlight non-academic achievements or activities that you wish to be considered, and demonstrate how the course will support your career plans.
You’ll find an application form on every postgraduate course page. Once your application has been received, you’ll receive a confirmation email followed by an electronic copy of your completed form. Our Admissions team will respond to you via email within five working days.
Postgraduate application in 9 easy steps
1. Choose a course
Think, plan and identify your ideal course by researching our course pages.
2. Apply now
You’ll find an application form on every postgraduate course page. Once your application has been received, you’ll receive a confirmation email followed by an electronic copy of your completed form. Our Admissions team will then assess your application. Our team will aim to make a decision within 5 working days, however during busier periods this may take longer.
Please note if you have applied for a MBA course, you will be invited to an interview if you meet the entry requirements.
If you are applying for a CPD course, please visit the relevant course page to check the entry requirements.
If you are successful, you will receive an offer email with instructions on how to accept the offer (if you are not successful, you will also receive an email to confirm this).
4. Accept your offer
If you receive an offer and would like to accept, you will be required to submit a deposit along with your acceptance form by a given deadline. This deposit reserves your place on the course. Missing this deadline could mean your place on the course is offered to another applicant, so we encourage you to pay the deposit before the deadline in your offer email.
Please make sure that your Aston Student ID is quoted in the payment reference so that we can identify the payment and match it with your application.
5. Send us your documents
If your offer is conditional, send us copies of the documents listed above according to your offer conditions as soon as you have them.
Please supply your documents by logging into our web-based student services portal My Aston Portal (MAP). Your username will be the email address you used when applying. The password will be the same as the password used for your application. Once logged in you can upload documents by following these steps:
- Click the "Browse My Computer" to button to find your file
- Click "Upload"
- Ensure "File Status" states "Successfully Uploaded"
- Click "Next" to continue
If your offer is unconditional, then you can move on to the next step of the application process.
6. Complete pre-CAS questionnaire (International Students only)
If you are an international student, you must complete the pre-CAS questionnaire. This is required for us to issue a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) to support your visa application. If you need any visa support, please contact our Visa Support team.
7. Apply for Visa (International students only)
If you are an international student, you will need a student visa to study a full-time course in the UK. If you accept our offer of a place to study at Aston University, our team of qualified immigration advisers will be able to advise you on a range of visa and immigration issues, and help you apply for your Student visa. This is a free service. Contact us for help and advice or to arrange an appointment.
Apply for your accommodation. Please note that you will need your Aston Student ID number for this, which is provided in the welcome email. Normally, you will not be able to apply for accommodation until the day after due to the need for systems to synchronise.
