Interdisciplinary Collaborative Project

This module will help you learn how to work and communicate efficiently and effectively with colleagues from different disciplinary backgrounds.

You’ll draw on specific knowledge and skills from your discipline to provide innovative, sustainable and responsible solutions to complex real-world business challenges.

This module is your gateway to directly connecting with vibrant business communities and networks, both in London and beyond.

The module brings together teams formed of students from across the Business Innovation and Digital Technologies pathways.

You’ll learn how to work and communicate efficiently and effectively with colleagues from different disciplinary backgrounds which is essential in today's modern workplace. At Aston University London we will help you to build these competencies.

You’ll draw on your specific knowledge and skills from your discipline to provide innovative, economically and socially sustainable and responsible solutions to complex real-world business challenges.

You'll tackle live business cases that demand relationship building and management, putting you in direct contact with the corporate world. You’ll engage with industry experts, including alumni, policy makers, and practitioners, through interactive activities that will enrich your learning experience.

Module content

The module features a variety of business challenges – e.g. sprints, hackathons – to build skills and application and culminates in two assessed business challenges set by external organisations.

You will also curate a portfolio recording their learning in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams. This will provide a record to support for future employment opportunities.

The work undertaken and network building in the module will potentially lead into the Independent Industry Project that completes the programme.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

• Critically reflect on the development and impact of effective team learning and collaborative working, focusing on their role and impact in a team and next steps for development
• Evaluate and synthesise appropriate theoretical frameworks and principles relevant to business challenges presented
• Design and produce critically evaluated economically and socially sustainable and responsible solutions to complex challenges
• Compose and present experiential and professional pitches to address client challenges
