Aston University’s green growth programme expands nationally
  • Green Advantage teaches leaders how to build sustainability into every part of their organisation
  • The scheme is led by experts from Aston University’s Centre for Growth
  • Green Advantage has been delivered since October 2022.

A regional scheme run by Aston University to help businesses grow sustainably is being expanded across the UK.

Green Advantage teaches company leaders how to build sustainability into every part of their organisation. Previously the course was only available to small to medium enterprises (SMEs) across the West Midlands but now the University is opening it up to all of the UK.

The scheme is led by experts from Aston University’s Centre for Growth which has experience of working with thousands of SMEs to support their businesses. Green Advantage works with senior executives who are provided with six expert-led workshops, four hours of peer group mentoring and personalised one-to-one coaching to embed sustainability into every part of their organisation.

Green Advantage has already delivered several highly successful cohorts since October 2022, with participating companies including Mars UK, Handelsbanken, National Grid, Shrewsbury Town Council, Mills & Reeve and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.

Kate Angel, head of business engagement operations said: “Many businesses face significant challenges in implementing sustainable practices. Green Advantage is tailored to help leaders overcome these hurdles by providing practical solutions, expert guidance and opportunities for peer learning.

“Our mission is to empower business leaders to align meaningful action with their organisational strategy, driving both business performance and a greener, more sustainable future.”

“Green Advantage is designed to help leaders boost investment potential, unlock new markets, and inspire both their team and community. It offers a powerful springboard for sustainable business growth and community impact. Participants will join a community of like-minded changemakers and gain tailored support to develop their sustainability roadmap.”

The University is offering a bursary to some business and there are further details on the Aston University website at https://www.aston.ac.uk/research/bss/abs/centres-hubs/aston-centre-for-growth/green-advantage
