Aston University’s Dr Jude Onwudili has become a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
He is an expert on sustainable fuels and chemicals, leading a research team at Aston University’s Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI).
EBRI is home to both academic and industry-facing teams that aim to accelerate the commercial development of emerging renewable energy, bioenergy, bioproducts and supporting technologies.
Dr Onwudili specialises in the processing of biomass, biomass-derived feedstocks, waste plastics, algae and municipal solid wastes using advanced technologies including hydrothermal processing, pyrolysis and gasification.
A senior lecturer in chemical engineering, Dr Onwudili has been recognised for his contribution to the advancement of chemical sciences through impactful research and teaching.
He said: “I am honoured and delighted to receive this recognition.
“My research at Aston University into thermochemical and thermocatalytic processing of organic materials has a strong focus on sustainability through chemistry and engineering.
“I am looking forward to continuing to contribute to the Royal Society of Chemistry’s mission to advance excellence in chemical sciences.”
Established in 1841, the RSC is the oldest chemical society in the world. Fellow is the RSC’s senior category of membership. Each year, 52 fellows and ten foreign members are elected from a pool of some 700 candidates across the world.
Fellows hold positions of influence and have invaluable experience, expertise and commitment to promoting the value of the chemical sciences community.
