The manager of the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME) at Aston Business School has been recognised in the 2022 Future Faces awards.

Gurdeep Chima beat off stiff competition to win the Future Face of Education and Public Sector category in the annual awards which recognise and celebrate young talent across the West Midlands.

CREME delivers leading expertise on business support for ethnic minority entrepreneurs and aims to transform perceptions by working with business policymakers and influential organisations to engage collaboratively with overlooked or disregarded business communities.

Gurdeep said:

“I was thrilled to be shortlisted as a finalist for the Future Face of Education and Public Sector, going on to win the award is a huge honour and privilege.

“I thoroughly enjoy working at CREME, it’s been extremely rewarding contributing to the success of the centre in the last couple of years.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a team, notably this year the launch and release of our new report with NatWest Group, Time to Change: A Blueprint for Advancing the UK’s Ethnic Minority Businesses.

“It’s highly motivating that CREME’s reports, and business support activities are being more widely recognised, as we strive towards ensuring our mission is at the forefront of everything we do - to make diversity and enterprise everyone’s business.”

The winners were announced at an awards dinner on Friday 26 August at the ICC in Birmingham.
