GREAT Scholarships are jointly funded by Aston University with the UK government's GREAT Britain campaign and the British Council. 

In addition to receiving a £10,000 scholarship, all GREAT scholars will be invited to a welcome event in the first semester and a networking event in the second semester. 

Aston University - GREAT Scholarships 2022 

We are offering £10,000 towards tuition fees for any one-year postgraduate-level taught course to one student from each of the following countries who will enrol at Aston University in the 2022-23 academic year. (Please note - excluded courses are the MBA and Postgraduate Diploma for Overseas Pharmacists (OSPAP)). 

  • Bangladesh
  • Egypt
  • Nepal
  • Kenya (Justice and law only - see below) 

In order to apply for this scholarship, you must have achieved the equivalent of a UK 2:1 degree qualification. You must also be a national and a current resident of a country listed below (you will be required to share a photo of your passport during the application process). 

Aston University - GREAT Scholarships for justice and law (Kenya)

The GREAT Scholarships for justice and law are jointly funded by Aston University with the UK government's GREAT Britain campaign and the British Council. 
 

We are offering £10,000 towards tuition fees for the LLM International Commercial Law to one student from Kenya, who will enrol at Aston University in the 2022-23 academic year. 

In order to apply for this scholarship, you must have achieved the equivalent of a UK 2:1 degree qualification. You must also be a Kenyan national and a current resident of Kenya (you will be required to share a photo of your passport during the application process). 

Summary of eligibility criteria

GREAT Scholarships 2022

  • Course: any one-year postgraduate-level taught course (excluding the MBA and OSPAP).
  • Nationality: Bangladesh, Egypt, Nepal (you must also be a current resident of your country)
  • Minimum academic qualification: equivalent of a UK 2:1 degree qualification

GREAT Scholarship (Justice & Law)

  • Course: LLM International Commercial Law 
  • Nationality: Kenya (you must also be a current resident of Kenya)
  • Minimum academic qualification: equivalent of a UK 2:1 degree qualification

How do I apply?

GREAT Scholarships 2022

Applications will open from 1st December 2021 and close on 12th June 2022.
To apply for a GREAT Scholarship, you will need to apply for an eligible Aston University postgraduate course first. Once you have received an offer to study an Aston University course, you can then log into your My Aston Portal (MAP) account, where you will find a link to the scholarship application form. Details on how to access your MAP account can be found in your offer email.

  1. Please create a 1-minute video to answer the question - "How will studying at Aston University enable you to contribute to the welfare and development of your country?"

    To ensure a fair application process, if your video is longer than 1 minute we will only consider the first 1 minute of the video.
     
  2. Please submit a 500-word personal statement on why you are eligible for this course, and how you will establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment.

•    Please upload your video to YouTube (or an alternative platform if YouTube is not available in your country) and submit both the video link, as well as your 500 word personal statement, on the 'GREAT Scholarship' application page on My Aston Portal (MAP)

GREAT Scholarship for Justice & Law

Applications will open from 1st December 2021 and close on 12th June 2022.

  3. Interview stage
    An Aston University panel will review all GREAT Scholarship (Justice & Law) applications and a small number of successful candidates will then be shortlisted for an interview with academic staff from Aston Law School. This interview will take place in June 2022 and successful candidates will be invited to this stage via email.

  • Film indoors to avoid background noise.
  • Avoid filming with your back to a window.
  • Keep your device still whilst filming.
  • Be innovative - show us your creative skills.
  • Show us that you're proud, passionate and a great communicator.

For courses starting in September 2022, the deadline to apply for this scholarship is:

  • Aston University - GREAT Scholarships for justice and law - Kenya: Sunday 12 June 2022 

What happens next?

If your application is successful, you will be awarded £10,000 to help with tuition fees.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

You can only receive one scholarship but you are able to apply for multiple scholarships. If you are successful in being awarded multiple scholarships, the highest value scholarship will be awarded to you. Scholarships will automatically be credited to your student account in the form of a tuition fee reduction.
