Under the Erasmus+ programme, students can apply to spend 2-12 months of their course as an exchange student at a partner university in Europe or on a work placement in Europe. Aston is proud that around 350 students decide to study and work abroad each year and we also welcome incoming students from partner institutions.

If you undertake a study/work placement in Europe during the academic year 2021/22 and 2022/23, you are also eligible for the Erasmus grant.

Students who would like to make a Special Needs Support Application should read the guidelines in the application form to check if they meet all the requirements before contacting us and requesting to apply on their behalf (all application must be submitted by HE institution not students directly).

This information below is set out in the special needs application form but ensure you have:

  • the application completed in full and signed by both the student and staff lead;
  • a letter from the student doctor /hospital;
  • a letter from the host institution, confirming they are able to support and accommodate the student;
  • a letter from your institution, informing us of your student’s level of disability and additional requirements.

Please, bear in mind that all special needs support applications should be submitted a few months before you are going away on your placement. Contact erasmus@aston.ac.uk to apply.
