Kunjika Saluja, Thailand

Kunjika Saluja Aston

Originally from Thailand, Kunjika Saluja achieved First Class Honours in BSc Economics and Management at Aston Business School. The integrated placement year gave her the opportunity to gain a year’s work experience in the global procurement team at Xerox. Since graduating, Kunjika has become a Financial Analyst at JP Morgan in Canary Wharf, London.

Why did you choose to study at Aston University?

I found the integrated placement year in Aston a great opportunity for me to gain exposure to the corporate world here in the UK. Usually summer internships don't give you enough experience, therefore doing a full year seemed like a great opportunity to me.

What did you most enjoy about living in Birmingham?

I met amazing people in Birmingham, who are still my great friends today.
The culture is great and there is so much diversity. I love living in a big city!

What did you most enjoy about your course at Aston University?

My course was a great combination of economics and management modules like accounting. This way, I could enjoy economic analysis whilst also understanding
how to apply it to the real world.

How valuable was the support you received from teaching staff and careers staff?

My lecturers and the careers staff were always willing to help me if I had any questions which is great support as a student. The modules were taught in an interesting and engaging way which made you eager to learn.

How did your Aston course prepare you for your career?

My course at Aston gave me the technical skills and professional experience (through placement year) to help me excel at my career. I am doing CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualifications now and the modules that I did at Aston have definitely helped me to pass the exams I have done so far. Also, I had great leadership opportunities in Aston that helped me to enhance my CV

"The reason I chose Aston University was because of its ranking in Financial Time 2016 for masters in management.

I was so surprised by Aston University’s career and international student support team because of their commitment and support given to international students. Iwan and Elsa have given me a lot of advice and support that I need for applying for jobs and double degree applications.

Studying at Aston University helped me get exposed to new cultures and meet more international students. This is one of the best parts, as it helped me to expand my network.

Living in Birmingham is also another great part of studying at Aston University. Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK and it is not so busy and crowded like London. Everything is very convenient, and also more cost effective compared to London.

If you choose to study in the UK, Aston University is definitely one of the best choices."
