Nepal

English Language Requirements

You may be eligible for a waiver on the English language requirement if you have successfully completed your Standard 12th qualification with an Indian National Board such as Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE/ISCE) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and have scored a minimum of 75% in Standard 12th English. 

However, students studying the below curriculum may be eligible for a waiver from taking the English Language Test.

You may be eligible for a waiver on the English language requirement if you have successfully completed any of the qualifications listed below with the corresponding grade in English:

While students who have successfully completed their Standard 12th qualification with the Nepalese National Examination Board (NEB) cannot get a waiver on the English language requirements, you can take one of the accepted English Language Qualifications listed on our English language requirements page.
 

International Foundation and International Year One Programmes

Students who are not eligible for undergraduate studies starting Year 1 may apply for a one-year International Foundation Programme and then progress to an undergraduate programme. After successfully completing a pathway programme, students are guaranteed entry to an undergraduate programme (Integrated CAS Route) at Aston University.

Alternatively, you could also explore our International Year One pathway with OnCampus for progression to Year Two if your grades are marginally under our direct entry requirement.

Undergraduate Programmes - Direct Entry

We accept students with International School Qualifications such as IGCSE, and IB for direct entry onto our Undergraduate programmes in addition to one of the Indian National Boards such as Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE/ISCE) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Nepalese National Education Board (NEB). The equivalent entry requirements for the Indian and Nepalese qualifications as below are in line with the international qualifications as on the respective course pages under the ‘Entry Requirements’ section.

If the programme of your choice has additional subject requirements, this will be assessed at the time of the assessment of your application. All Undergraduate applications have to apply to Aston University via UCAS.

If you are not eligible for direct entry, you can follow the International Foundation or the International Year One route above to progress to an undergraduate degree programme of your choice at Aston University.

Pathways to Postgraduate Masters

If you have an Undergraduate Diploma or a Higher National Diploma and wish to progress to a Masters programme at Aston University, you may study the OnCampus Aston Graduate Diploma as a route to one of our Postgraduate programmes. 

Students who hold a Bachelors Degree, but are not eligible for direct entry on a postgraduate programme may apply for a one-year Pre-Masters and then progress to postgraduate study.

Postgraduate Masters - Direct Entry

Students must have completed a relevant Bachelors degree with the minimum UK equivalent GPA required for entry onto a Masters programme in line with the grades below.

Students graduating from:

  • Kathmandu University
  • Pokhara University
  • Tribhuvan University

Would need to score:

  • A minimum of 2.6 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a 2:2 UK equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 3.0 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a 2:1 UK equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 3.4 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a First-Class UK equivalent qualification.

Students graduating from any Nepalese Institution not listed above would need to score:

  • A minimum of 2.8 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a 2:2 UK equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 3.2 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a 2:1 UK equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 3.6 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a First-Class UK equivalent qualification.

Some programmes might have additional subject requirements, which will be assessed at the time of the assessment of your application.
 

Postgraduate Research

Students must have completed a Masters degree from a recognised institution with a minimum of 2:1 UK equivalent degree classification.


All PhD applicants need to contact the research groups directly with their individual research proposal.

Application Process

If you're a student applying directly, please apply via the Aston Applicant Portal (Postgraduate Only)

Undergraduate applications are to be submitted via UCAS.


Required Documents

1. School Standard Xth and XIIth mark sheets (For UG students you may submit your predicted scores)

2. College/University semester-wise marksheets reflecting all modules with corresponding grades

3. University degree certificate (Provisional Degree certificates are accepted only until 2 years after graduating)

4. Passport

5. Personal Statement or Statement of Purpose

6. 1 Letter of Recommendation for Postgraduate applications (Excluding MBA which requires 2 Letters of Recommendation) and 1 Letter of Recommendation for Undergraduate Applications

7. CV (if available)

8. If you have a Master's Degree, a 200-word statement telling us why you want to study a second master level programme

9. Any certificates or approvals needed from professional bodies (if your programme asks for it, e.g. for programmes such as MSc Mechanical Engineering, MSc OSPAP, MSc Health Psychology, etc)

10. Any other document that the admissions team might request at the time of assessment of the submitted application

International Scholarships

Aston University offers a range of scholarships to support Indian students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Scholarships - April 2024

All students from Nepal will be awarded an automatic £3000 scholarship for the April 2024 intake. No separate scholarship application is required.
