English Language Requirements

You may be eligible for a waiver on the English language requirement if you have successfully completed any of the qualifications listed below with the corresponding grade in English:

1) Official Degree transcript stating that the course has wholly been delivered in English and the assessment wholly conducted and delivered in English.

2) A letter on a headed paper from the awarding institution stating that the course and the assessments were wholly delivered in English.

3) A letter from your employer on a headed paper confirming that you have been working for a year or longer till present time for an International company (with offices in more than one country), where all business and communications are conducted in English.

*Note- Students who graduate from Tier 1 Universities can get English Language Waiver directly on the basis of Medium of Instruction letter. 

If you are not eligible for a waiver on the English language requirements, you may take one of the accepted English Language Qualifications listed on our English language requirements.

Pathways - International Foundation and International Year One Programmes

Students who are not eligible for undergraduate studies starting Year 1 may apply for a one-year International Foundation Programme and then progress to an undergraduate programme. After successfully completing a pathway programme, students are guaranteed entry to an undergraduate programme (Integrated CAS Route) at Aston University.

Alternatively, you could also explore our International Year One pathway with OnCampus for progression to Year Two if your grades are marginally under our direct entry requirement.

Undergraduate Programmes - Direct Entry
  • A 3-year Technical/Polytechnic/Vocational Diploma taken in place of Indian Standard XII with 70% (First Class) after Standard 10th for direct entry onto UG Year 1 programmes in subjects relevant to the subjects in the Diploma.
  • We accept students with International School Qualifications such as IGCSE, and International Baccalaureate in addition to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE/ISCE) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and State Board qualifications for direct entry into our Undergraduate programmes. The equivalent entry requirements for the Indian qualifications below are in line with the international qualifications as on the respective course pages under the ‘Entry Requirements’ section.

Some programmes’ entry requirements might have specific GCSE (equivalent Standard 10th requirements) as well and will be stated in the ‘Entry Requirements’ section of the programme page. The GCSE equivalencies are as follows:

If the programme of your choice has additional subject requirements, this will be assessed at the time of the assessment of your application. All Undergraduate applications have to apply to Aston University via UCAS.

If you have successfully completed a 3-Year Diploma after High School we might be able to accept you onto one of our undergraduate programmes for direct entry on a case-to-case basis. Please contact ugadmissions@aston.ac.uk to know if you’re eligible.

If you are not eligible for direct entry, you may follow the International Foundation or the International Year One route above to progress to an undergraduate programme of your choice at Aston University.

Pathways to Postgraduate Masters 

If you have an Undergraduate Diploma or a Higher National Diploma and wish to progress to a Masters programme at Aston University, you may study the OnCampus Aston Graduate Diploma as a route to one of our Postgraduate programmes. 

Students who hold a Bachelors Degree, but are not eligible for direct entry into a postgraduate programme may apply for a one-year Pre-Masters and then progress to postgraduate study.

Dual Degree - Undergraduate Programmes

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

You may apply to study at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab, India (TIET) for 2 Years followed by 2 Years at Aston University, to receive dual degrees at the end of the 4 years of study. This Dual degree collaboration offers various combinations of programmes that students may student at the two institutions, which would give students a BTech/BSc (Hons.) degree from TIET and a BEng./BSc (Hons.) degree from Aston University at the end of Four (4) Years. students have the option to study the below combinations at the two institutions:

Dual Degree - Postgraduate Programmes

Symbiosis School of Banking and Finance (Pune Main Campus)

You may apply to study at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune and at Aston University, to receive dual degrees. Students will receive a MBA degree from Symbiosis International (Deemed University), and a degree in MSc Finance from Aston University at the end of the 2 years.

Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences (Pune Main Campus)

You may apply to study at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune and at Aston University, to receive dual degrees. Students will receive a MSc Biotechnology degree from Symbiosis International (Deemed University), and will have the option to choose ONE between MSc Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine and MRes Biosciences from Aston University. Students will be awarded both degrees at the end of 2 Years.

Pathways to Postgraduate Programmes

Symbiosis School of Banking and Finance (Pune, Viman Nagar Campus)

If you are a student on the BBA (Hons.)/Honors by Research programme at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Viman Nagar, Pune and at Aston University, to complete an Undergraduate as well as a Postgraduate qualification in 4.5 Years instead of 5 Years. Students will receive a BBA (Hons.) or BBA (Hons.) by Research degree from Symbiosis International (Deemed University), and a degree in MSc in Management from Aston University at the end of the 4.5 years, saving students 6 months on their total duration of study. 

Students will start at Symbiosis International (Deemed) University on the BBA (Hons.) programme in June, and will have the option to join Aston University 3.5 Years later on the MSc in Management in January, which they will complete in 1 Year.

Students will need to score an equivalent of a UK 2:2 grade by the end of Year 3 of their BBA qualification at SIU to be eligible for this pathway. Equivalencies and eligibility can be found in the 'Postgraduate Direct Entry' section above.

1. School Standard Xth and XIIth mark sheets (For UG students you may submit your predicted scores)

2. College/University semester-wise marksheets reflecting all modules with corresponding grades

3. University degree certificate (Provisional Degree certificates are accepted only until 2 years after graduating)
