Bangladesh

English language requirements

While students from Bangladesh cannot get a waiver on the English language requirements, you may take one of the accepted English language qualifications listed on our English language requirements page.

However, students studying the below curriculum may be eligible for a waiver from taking the English Language Test.

Students who are not eligible for undergraduate studies starting Year 1 may apply for a one-year International Foundation Programme and then progress to an undergraduate programme. After successfully completing a pathway programme, students are guaranteed entry to an undergraduate programme (Integrated CAS Route) at Aston University.

Alternatively, you could also explore our International Year One pathway with OnCampus for progression to Year Two if your grades are marginally under our direct entry requirement.

Undergraduate programmes

We accept students with International School Qualifications for direct entry onto our Undergraduate programmes. If you hold an HSC qualification from Bangladesh, you can follow the International Foundation Programme route above to progress to an undergraduate programme of your choice at Aston University. Entry requirements for international qualifications can be found on the course page under the ‘Entry Requirements’ section.

Pathways to Postgraduate Masters

If you have an Undergraduate diploma or a Higher National Diploma, and wish to progress to a Masters programme at Aston University, you may study the OnCampus Aston Graduate Diploma as a route to one of our Postgraduate programmes. 

Students who hold a Bachelors Degree, but are not eligible for direct entry on a postgraduate programme can apply for a one-year Pre-Masters and then progress to postgraduate study.

Postgraduate Masters

Students must have completed a relevant Bachelors degree with the minimum UK equivalent GPA required for entry onto a Masters programme in line with the grades below.

Students graduating from:

  • University of Dhaka
  • Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology
  • North South University
  • BRAC University
  • Independent University, Bangladesh

Would need to score:

  • A minimum of 2.6 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a 2:2 UK equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 3.0 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a 2:1 UK equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 3.4 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a First-Class UK equivalent qualification.

Students graduating from any Bangladesh Institution not listed above would need to score:

  • A minimum of 2.8 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a 2:2 UK equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 3.2 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a 2:1 UK equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 3.6 CGPA on a 4 CGPA grading scale for entry onto programmes that require a First-Class UK equivalent qualification.

Some programmes might have additional subject requirements, which will be assessed at the time of the assessment of your application.

We accept qualifications from selected institutions in Bangladesh. If you have a qualification from an institution not listed above, you may email us on astonbangladesh@aston.ac.uk to check with us.

Postgraduate Research

Students must have completed a Masters degree from a recognised institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4 or 75%.
All PhD applicants need to contact the research groups directly with their individual research proposal.

Bangladesh Regional and International Scholarships 

Aston University offers a range of scholarships to support Bangladeshi students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Engineers Pride Scholarship

How much is this scholarship worth?

Successful applicants will be awarded £2,500 to help with tuition fees.

Who can apply?

Students from Bangladesh can apply. This scholarship is available for students applying to full-time College of Engineering and Physical Sciences postgraduate taught programmes starting in September 2022.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarships, all students are required to meet the criteria listed below : 

  1. Hold a UK Equivalent First Class Degree – Please refer to our Postgraduate entry requirements section to check if you have a UK First Class equivalent grade. 
     
  2. The student has accepted their offer and paid their deposit within their original deadline, with no deadline extension. 
     
  3. The student is a citizen and a permanent resident of Bangladesh. For evidence, you can upload any National ID. 
     
  4. The student holds a rank within the top 25 at their institution (class batch) and have studied their Undergraduate qualification in Bangladesh (please provide a document/letter/email to astonbangladesh@aston.ac.uk from your university stating this) 
     
  5. The student is able to demonstrate a clear 'use' of their programme of study. This should be indicated clearly in your personal statement at the time of your application to study at Aston University. 
     
  6. The student is not sponsored by an institution/government/company 

Please note, postgraduate research students are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Students from Bangladesh can apply. This scholarship is available for students applying to full-time College of Health and Life Sciences postgraduate taught programmes starting in September 2022.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarships, all students are required to meet the criteria listed below : 

  1. Hold a UK Equivalent First Class Degree – Please refer to our Postgraduate entry requirements section to check if you have a UK First Class equivalent grade. 
     
  2. The student has accepted their offer and paid their deposit within their original deadline, with no deadline extension.

Students from Bangladesh can apply. This scholarship is available for students applying to full-time College of Business and Social Sciences (excluding MBA) postgraduate taught programmes starting in September 2022.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarships, all students are required to meet the criteria listed below : 

  1. Hold a UK Equivalent First Class Degree – Please refer to our Postgraduate entry requirements section to check if you have a UK First Class equivalent grade. 
     
  2. The student has accepted their offer and paid their deposit within their original deadline, with no deadline extension.
     
  3. The student is a citizen and a permanent resident of Bangladesh. For evidence, you can upload any National ID.

GREAT Scholarship 2023

To apply for a GREAT Scholarship, you will need to apply for an eligible Aston University postgraduate course first. Once you have an offer, you will need to complete Aston University Bangladesh GREAT Scholarship Application Form

As part of the application you will need to answer the following question in no more than 500 words:

"Tell us about a social or work initiative that you took or was a part of, and how it impacted society and moulded you into the person you are today."


You will be also need to create a one-minute video answering the following question:

"How does the choice of programme you have applied to at Aston University align with the initiative mentioned in the essay above as well as your future career goals."

Please upload your video to YouTube (or an alternative video sharing platform) and share the link to this video in the relevant field of the application form.

Five candidates will be shortlisted for an interview with a panel for the final decision. The interviews will be held virtually on 31 May 2023.
