Researchers at the IHN are looking for healthy children to take part in their research.

Researchers undertaking a project to understand rare autoimmune diseases of the brain in children are looking for healthy children in and around Birmingham to take part in their research.

Who are they looking for?

Any children aged 6-15 who could attend a research visit at the IHN building.

What does taking part include?

  • Child MRI scans - a safe non-invasive way of taking a picture of the brain, using research scanners at the Aston Neuroimaging Facility.
  • Child MEG scans - a safe way of measuring the activity in the brain as different areas of the brain ‘talk’ to one another.
  • Child assessments - to find out about thinking skills and development.
  • Family assessments - questionnaires about the child and caregiver.

What do volunteers receive for taking part?

Participants will be reimbursed for the time they have volunteered with vouchers.
