Teaching staff and student experience

The staff are very supportive and are always happy to help. The staff was comprised of both training and fully qualified Health Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists and academic experts from a range of health sectors so we were taught a range of transferrable skills for roles in the academic field as well as clinical. The lectures were engaging and incorporated real-life examples that we were able to understand how skills and theory are used in practice.

Highlight at Aston University

One of the highlights of my course was learning about and practising motivational interviewing. Although it was quite challenging to grasp, the lecturers were really helpful and made sure to give us enough time to make sure we understood it. I feel comfortable enough to tell my future employer that I have an understanding of Motivational Interviewing and have some training in it.

Aston campus experience

I really enjoyed my campus experience. I did my undergraduate course at Aston as well but unfortunately due to COVID my final year was predominately online. It was nice being back on campus and being able to experience in-person learning while also having the element of pre-recorded lectures. The campus is consistently evolving so it is exciting seeing all the new changes and improvements.

What was the best thing about being a student in Birmingham?

How close everything is, Aston is located in the city centre so everything is within walking distance or you can make use of the transport links. There are so many good food places to enjoy.
