What is the Sir Doug Ellis Pathway to Healthcare Programme?
Our innovative Pathway to Healthcare Programme is aimed at students with ambitions to study a medicine or a healthcare related degree for university. It is designed to inspire and inform.
During the 18-month programme, which learners will complete alongside A level study, successful applicants will be given the opportunity to take part in various enrichment activities. These include healthcare subject taster days, work experience in various healthcare settings* and A level revision boot camps. In addition, academic tutoring and specialist interview preparation workshops will help with applications to medicine and healthcare courses.
During the programme, learners will meet a range of leading experts from healthcare subjects taught at Aston University, including medicine, pharmacy, optometry, psychology, audiology and biosciences. They will also hear from practicing healthcare professionals from across the region such as GPs, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists and optometrists, as well as meeting current Aston University healthcare students.
*Limited numbers and application process applies.
Learners will be expected to attend all Year 12 and 13 events over the 18-month programme to successfully graduate and qualify for a contextual offer at Aston University on our undergraduate Medicine and Life and Health Sciences degrees.
