'Rebuilding the foundations for a better, more secure economy' an online public lecture by Anneliese Dodds, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer and Member of Parliament (MP) for Oxford East.
The West Midlands LFIG (Labour Finance and Industry Group) and Aston University are pleased to co-host a lecture by Anneliese Dodds, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer and Member of Parliament (MP) for Oxford East.
Anneliese Dodds was elected to the European Parliament at the 2014 European Parliament election. She was elected to the House of Commons at the 2017 general election. She served in the Shadow Treasury Team of Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell as Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury from 2017 to 2020. In April 2020, she was appointed Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer by new Labour leader Keir Starmer.
Anneliese was a senior lecturer in Public Policy at Aston University from 2010 to 2014, and the University are delighted to welcome her ‘back’ to deliver this year's lecture.
The LFIG annual lecture provides an opportunity for senior Labour Party Parliamentarians to make a major policy speech in their area. In contrast to our “soundbite age”, the lecture format allows time for a major policy speech that can go into detail about lessons learned from past events, consider international comparisons, and to set out the political and philosophical basis for emerging policy.
