Part of the Society matters LIVE event series

Dr Lauren Traczykowski is a senior lecturer at Aston Law School, Aston University.

Ethical for who? Whose actions – government, business, society – are we challenging? As for being ethically prepared for the next emergency – we probably aren’t. But we can be!

Join Dr Lauren Traczykowski as she ethically analyses some key actions and decisions made during the pandemic and other recent emergencies through a disaster ethics lens. Instead of focusing on the public health side of the emergency, this session will unpack general response and recovery issues so that participants are empowered to ask the right questions and understand certain answers – even if they are uncomfortable to us as individuals.

Lauren will then provide some suggestions on what we as individuals can do to ethically prepare for the next emergency. With this, she will provide us some questions to ask – ourselves, our neighbours, society and the government – which will keep us thinking and acting ethically as we face the next emergency, whatever it might be.
