We are pleased to announce that Professor Magdalena Plebanski will deliver the prestigious Aston University Annual Distinguished Lecture on 30 April, presenting 'Cancer Diagnostics and Therapies: Harnessing Multidisciplinary Innovation'.
A globally renowned immunologist and bioengineer, Professor Plebanski is widely recognised for her groundbreaking contributions to vaccine development, immunotherapies, and disease diagnostics. She has delivered keynote addresses at leading immunology and nanotechnology conferences and serves on esteemed editorial boards and scientific advisory panels.
Her current research is dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer diagnostics and treatment, including the identification of blood-based biomarkers—one of which is now driving a large-scale Phase II clinical trial—and the development of innovative gold-based immunotherapies in collaboration with RMIT chemists. Beyond her scientific achievements, Professor Plebanski champions interdisciplinary initiatives tackling critical health challenges, from mental health programs to the Pathways to Healthy Ageing initiative, underscoring her commitment to translating cutting-edge research into meaningful real-world impact.
