  • Share with Aston staff our expertise in English language communication and intercultural awareness
Supporting your students

CELCA provides a range of academic English and communication skills workshops available to all international students.

These cover areas such as:

Reading and researching as an international students paraphrasing and summarising in academic writing academic style review grammar in academic contexts language of dissertation pronunciation

UK students can also be referred to the above support if they need to develop their communicative competence or a particular aspect of English language use. 

CELCA can also collaborate with module leaders and programme directors to provide sessions embedded in modules, short courses running alongside programmes, or other forms of bespoke support addressing the specific needs of groups of students.

Academic style within Research Methods modules on Master’s Programmes Communicating in professional contexts within professional development modules​​​​​​ English for Postgraduate Studies course for BSS postgraduate students

Please refer your students to the CELCA Blackboard module to find out more and attend the workshops. 

One-to-one tutorials and consultations focus on students’ individual needs. They are particularly effective if a student is working on a specific task or needs to develop a specific competence. Students can sign up for tutorials and consultations by completing this application form. If you wish to refer a student directly, please contact CELCA .

Supporting You

We offer expertise on how to make lectures, assessment briefs, and marking criteria more inclusive and we provide staff development sessions on intercultural awareness and inclusive teaching practices. These sessions can be booked via Core or requested specifically at College, School, or programme level.

International colleagues can contact CELCA for information on one-to-one support related to language and communication skills, and attend workshops on UK academic culture and intercultural awareness.
