As a student at Aston, you have access to a wide range of support. You can request a one-to-one tutorial in person, online, or via email, throughout the year. You can also attend a variety of online workshops that cover different areas of the English language and academic and communication skills. These are designed with international students in mind; however, UK students can also attend them.

There is also a wealth of self-access resources, hosted on Blackboard. You will need your Aston username and password to get access.

CELCA Blackboard module

This is a self-access module that all international students can access via Blackboard. It contains a variety of resources in text and video format. Once you have logged into Blackboard with your Aston username and password, search for Centre for English Language and Communication.

You will also use this module to access our online workshops and online one-to-one tutorials.

Get Ahead

Get Ahead is a module that has been developed in collaboration with Aston’s Learning Development Centre and other University departments. It will be particularly useful when you first start your studies, but you will probably find some sections very helpful in the later stages of your programme, too.

Get Ahead will:

Introduce you to Aston University Help orientate you to learning in Higher Education and get started with learning online Help you refresh and develop your academic writing, study skills, and mathematics
