It is your responsibility to keep the Home Office up-to-date with your personal details.
If you are in the UK with immigration permission as a Student, with leave under another route or as a dependant, then you must inform the Home Office of any changes to your circumstances. These changes can be made online.
The way that you update the Home Office will depend on the type of visa that you have:
- My visa is a sticker in my passport
If your visa is a sticker in your passport and there are changes to:
- Your personal details (e.g. change of name)
- Your criminal convictions (if any)
- Your contact details (e.g. change of address)
- Your representative's details (if you used a lawyer or agent for your application)
- Your dependants' details (not including the birth of a new baby in the UK)
You need to notify UKVI using the Migrant Change of Circumstances form (MCC), for which there is no charge.
You can also use this form to notify UKVI of any other changes that you think are relevant.
- My visa is a Biometric Residence Permit
The Home Office is phasing out the use of BRPs with the introduction of the eVisa. This is an electronic system where immigration status will be viewable online.
You should ensure that you have registered for a UKVI account and obtained your eVisa. After which, changes and updates can easily be made online. For more information please see our dedicated eVisa web page here.
To update your address only, you can use this online form.
- I have a Student Visa
If you have a Student Visa and you are thinking about:
- Changing course
- Changing the length of your course
- Changing University
- Taking a Leave of Absence (suspending your studies)
- Withdrawing from Aston
Please come to speak with an International Student Adviser to discuss the visa implications of these changes.
Don't forget that these requirements apply to your family as well as to you as a student at Aston. If you experience any other changes in your circumstances, or you are expecting to add a partner or a new child to your family, please come and speak with an International Student Adviser.
