Information for Needs Assessors
For more information, please contact us
At Aston we liaise with students to prepare a document of appropriate teaching, learning, and assessment support recommendations (if required). Support recommendations and any updates will be forwarded to academic Schools and the Exams Office within five working days of receipt by/agreement with the Student Welfare Team. Support Recommendations can be updated as needed at request of the student.
Lecture capture is not available in all teaching spaces.
Aston University’s Mental Health and Wellbeing team provides effective and specialist support to the University’s students, to meet their basic mental health and wellbeing needs, giving them the best opportunity to successfully complete their studies and have a positive student experience.
Funding may be possible towards the £200 contribution for a DSA laptop. This contribution is based on the student's household income. Students are recommended to speak with their disability advisor to discuss possible options.
The on-campus Halls of Residence are owned by Unite Students and not the university. You will need to liaise with them regarding any reasonable adjustments or DSA support towards accommodation costs.
There is no in-house DSA funded NMH support for Student Finance England. For enquiries regarding other funding bodies please contact us.
For Bands 1 and 2, we are able to provide limited support internally, and we liaise with the student to ensure their required needs are met.
Aston’s preferred supplier for bands 3 and 4 NMH is Cosmic People, and they are able to carry out face-to-face support at Aston.
Aston provide ‘pods’ for that can be booked for face-to-face sessions. The NMH provider will need to contact the Disability and Neurodiversity Support team to organise this.
It is likely that any NMH provider needing to come onto campus to support a student will need a temporary staff card and account in order to use campus WiFi and access buildings.
