Aston Foundation Centre

Reasons to enrol on a Foundation Programme

The Aston Foundation Centre offers you an alternative route to study at Aston University. This may be because you have:

  • Narrowly missed the required grades for your chosen undergraduate programme.

Embarking on a Foundation Programme allows you to benefit from the full university experience (with student loan funding) without needing to re-sit and go through the UCAS process again.

  • Changed the intended direction of your undergraduate studies.

If you don't currently have the required subject mix for your chosen programme, enrolling onto a Foundation Programmes will, in most instances, allow students to change specialism without going back to college.

The Aston Foundation Centre also allows you to settle into university life and flourish in a new learning environment before your undergraduate studies begin. It does so by:

  • Bridging the gap to university level study.

Embarking on a Foundation Programme provides you with a wealth of opportunities. You will be recognised as a full member of our student community from day one, with access to library, IT and sport facilities. Alongside the subject knowledge you will receive from our excellent Academic team, our range of Foundation Programmes will also ensure you have the study skills needed to succeed in an independent and dynamic learning environment. Additionally, we have a very supportive Personal Tutoring team who will be able to assist you during your time within the Aston Foundation Centre.

Progression beyond the Aston Foundation Centre

Subject to some prerequisite grades on entry, and meeting progression requirements within your Foundation Programme, you can progress to most courses at Aston University, making access to competitive programmes achievable.

Alternatively, you may wish to take your foundation diploma elsewhere if you wish to specialise in an area that Aston University doesn't offer – subject to meeting the entry requirements of that university.
