Professional qualification for free
We are offering students who choose to join Aston University on a taught Master’s degree in September 2024 the opportunity to gain an additional professional management qualification for free.
You can study the Chartered Management Institute Level 7 Award in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice from June to September 2024. This is a prestigious professional qualification awarded by the chartered body for management and leadership in the UK, and taught by Aston Business School’s top academics.
Teaching will take place online, and you will have the flexibility to study in your own time.

This award is designed for individuals wishing to develop professional management and leadership practice who will have the knowledge, skills and behaviours to drive business activities in a senior management and leadership role. It is ideal for students who will eventually take responsibility for people, projects, operations and/or services to deliver long-term organisational success.
This course is not just for students who choose business and management degrees; it will equally benefit students choosing engineering, health and life science and social science degrees.

Step 2 – if you meet our entry requirements you will receive an offer. You can also apply for one of our scholarships.
Step 3 – accept your Master's course offer and apply for the CMI award by the closing date (please note, applications for the CMI Award will close at 23:59 BST on 30th April 2024). Due to the requirements of the CMI Award, to apply, it is advisable that you have achieved, or are working towards an IELTS 6.5 in writing. Once you have received an offer to study an Aston University course, you will be sent a link to the application form to apply.
As part of your application, we will ask you to submit a 300-word self-reflection about your leadership skills and competencies now, and how developing strategic leadership skills will help your future career.
You will be expected to focus on your skills and competencies now and those you feel you will need to develop to be the leader you would like to be in the future.
