We asked MA Forensic Linguistics graduate, Lauren Morgan, about her time at Aston University.
Here's what she said...
I stumbled across forensic linguistics as a field when I happened to attend a talk after work. I was working at Aston [University] in another role at the time which made studying at Aston very convenient.
For forensic linguistics, Aston is a really obvious choice given it's world-leading research and AIFL (Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics)."
I loved that everything was very practical and there were lots of discussions and hands-on tasks in seminars where you really got a good sense of the work being carried out in the field.
One particular module 'Practical Applications in Forensic Linguistics' involved working with an external client (for my cohort it was the National Crime Agency).
It was so valuable to be able to conduct research that would actually be put to use and good practice to think about what the client might want and need from the research rather than just what is academically interesting."
Do it! It's such a great course and the [Aston] Institute [for Forensic Linguistics] is a really great place to study forensic linguistics."
