Each year at Aston Law School we host a range of events designed to enhance the experience of our students outside of the lecture theatre. These include networking events with a range of law firms, educational providers and businesses, as well as internal events such as mooting and negotiation competitions and influential guest speakers.
Lady Justice Macur
Wednesday 31 March 2021
Aston Law School and Aston Student Law Society look forward to welcoming Lady Justice Macur for a virtual visit to the School in her capacity as Honorary President of Aston Student Law Society 2020-2021.
As part of her visit, Lady Justice Macur will meet members of the Society committee, learn about the work of student volunteers of Aston Law Clinic, and deliver a talk followed by questions.
The talk will include reflections on Lady Justice Macur’s experiences as a lawyer and judge, the future of the legal profession and dispute resolution, and the qualities required to become a successful lawyer.
Lady Justice Macur has been a judge of the Court of Appeal since 2013. She was Presiding Judge of the Midland Circuit between 2007 and 2011 and Senior Presiding Judge for England and Wales between 2017 and 2019. Lady Justice Macur’s appointment as Aston Student Law Society’s Honorary President follows Lord Lloyd-Jones’ appointment to the position, and a visit to Aston Law School, in 2019-2020.
Aston Law School Senior Lecturer, Adam Shaw-Mellors, said: ‘On behalf of the School and Society, we are very grateful to Lady Justice Macur for accepting this position and look forward to welcoming her to talk to our students’.
