Meet Roksana Kaspryzk, a game changer making an impact.

I chose to study MSc Strategic Marketing Management because I wanted to go into marketing. I already had experience in this field but wanted to develop my career. I chose Aston University as I had heard good things about it and knew it was great for business courses. It’s also very convenient to get to.

I was in a constant battle between finding what I loved doing and what I enjoyed learning about."

I gained a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Masters in Marketing, but a traditional career never suited my lifestyle. I have excelled academically since childhood and was always hungry for knowledge, but could never find a workplace or company that reflected my beliefs and morals. Refusing to give up my search, it wasn’t until I met two other incredibly driven and ambitious women during my master’s at Aston University that SafeQueen was born, and I found my calling.

SafeQueen

SafeQueen is a company that allows users to rate venues based on how safe they felt, whilst also ensuring venues are constantly improving their safety measures. The idea came from a night out that me and my two friends had in Birmingham City Centre. We spent so much money to enter the club and buy drinks, and yet no one cared for our safety. It wasn’t right.

As I learn more about developing and running a business I also work part-time in a hospitality role.

Roksana's advice

Forget what you think you know and do what feels right.

Living according to other people’s stories will leave you feeling unfulfilled, and if you do what
you love the money will come, trust yourself.

As a young woman, it is easy to sacrifice your morals and beliefs for external gains, but remember the price will be internal and permanent, so make the word “no” your best friend.

Never take any nonsense from anyone. Good luck and go where you are scared to go - that’s where all the fun is.

For anyone wanting to study at Aston University, it’s the perfect place to light your independent and entrepreneurial spirit."
