We asked MSc Information Systems and Business Analysis student, Hovsep Sarafian, about his time at Aston University.
Here's what he said...
Hovsep Sarafian chose Aston University to study MSc Information Systems and Business Anaylsis as it combined the two fields that he loved, in something that he called a "unique" offering. When it came to making the decision, despite applying for other universities, he stated that he knew Aston University, within the city of Birmingham was where he "wanted to be'"
He reflected: "It's not only where I completed my Master's degree, but it has also become a second home to me."
The programme's practical element was invaluable to Hovsep's learning. Expanding further than the lecture theatre, he stated that "each module in this course is tailored to give you the real-life experience in areas such as project management, consulting, and technology." Gaining such first-hand experience equipped him with the capabilities needed to succeed within his desired specialism.
He also emphasised that support was never too far away with guidance from the programme director and tutor being extremely "valuable".
Through The Aston Global Advantage module, Hovsep was able to secure an internship within the technology industry, working in a project management position. The internship was completely virtual. Expanding his horizons, this meant that he could apply to "anywhere in the world regardless of whether the organisation was in the UK or abroad."
He found the opportunity allowed him to "apply the knowledge" he had acquired to a real-world business. Not only that, it enabled him to "enhance his CV" and form "new industry connections."
Reflecting on his time here at Aston University, Hovsep offered some great insight and advice to future students. With no regrets, he confirms to those considering this programme that they are "making the right choice".
He encourages students, who have not quite made their mind up yet, to connect with past alumni as they "share their experience and insights on what life is like at Aston". He says that he made such connections and the feedback they provided encouraged him to start his journey at Aston University. He's never looked back, calling the University a "beautiful community" - a "family".
One comment that resonates is that "we all have a million dreams and aspirations that we want to achieve. Make Aston part of your journey because the support and connections you will make here are more valuable than you can imagine."
