Enterprise Bursaries 2021

We are excited to announce the launch of the Aston Enterprise Bursaries scheme, made possible through our partnership with Santander Universities.

Enterprising Aston students and recent graduates are invited to put themselves forward for one of the Enterprise Bursaries on offer (up to £1,500 each), and use this funding to take their businesses to the next level.

The Essentials

  • Bursaries available: between £500 - £1,500 each
  • Funding to help Aston students and recent graduates progress their businesses
  • Deadline to apply – 9th May 2021

What can the bursary be used for?

There are no set things that you have to spend the bursary on - but you have to show us how the spending of this funding will directly benefit your business.

For example - can you boost your current marketing efforts? Is there equipment essential to your business that you could buy?

Who can apply for the bursary?

In order to be eligible for the bursary, you have to:

  • Be an Aston student or recent graduate
  • Have registered your business officially (or will be doing so in April 2021 through acceptance on the BSEEN programme)

You also have to meet one of the following criteria:

  • Have participated in Apollo, the Aston Enterprise Competition in the academic year 2020/21 or BSEEN
  • Be undertaking an enterprise placement currently for the year 2020/21

How do I apply?

If you meet the criteria and are dedicated to progressing your business - we’d love to hear from you!

Apply online here.

Please be as specific as you can about costs and the timeframes involved.

You do not necessarily have to apply for the full £1500! The minimum amount is £500.

What do previous bursary awardees say

"Off the back of the good fortune of the grant, we are raising investment which will fund business development as we pivot into something much bigger than we originally intended to be. (Faruk, founder of Weld)"

"The Santander bursary really gave me the ability to kick-start my business as I was able to order products from multiple vendors to test them out simultaneously. It also helped me start my hair accessories line earlier than expected, as well as purchase all my packaging”. (Lotanna Amazu, founder of Bylotanna)."

What happens next?

Once the deadline has passed (9th May), the applications will be reviewed and we will select the bursary winners.
