We spoke with Bola Folarin, MSc International Accounting and Finance graduate, about her experience at Aston University.
Here's what she had to say...
Why did you choose to study at Aston University?
"Despite being told by many that an ACCA is more valuable than a Master's degree in accounting, I had always desired to hold a Master's degree. In spite of this viewpoint, I did not let it influence my choice because I thought that getting my Masters and ACCA would provide me access to further employment prospects.
There were a few crucial elements that affected my choice of university when I was making my selection. I started by examining the standing and calibre of the academic programmes they provided. I wanted to guarantee that I would have an excellent education.
I selected Aston because I felt that my employability and job prospects will improve due to its recognition and accreditations, and I can proudly identify as an alumnus of such a prestigious university. This is, of course, the best choice made thus far."
What did you enjoy most about your course?
"I absolutely loved the MSc International Accounting and Finance course at Aston University! One of the things I enjoyed most was the practical approach to learning. We had real-world case studies, group projects, and even opportunities to work with industry professionals. It made the learning experience so engaging and relevant. Plus, the lecturers were fantastic and always there to support us. It was a great mix of theory and hands-on application, which made it all the more exciting!"
What would you say to any student thinking of studying your course at Aston University?
"If someone is considering pursuing an MSc in International Accounting and Finance at Aston University, I would strongly suggest that they should look no further than Aston. My experience tells me that Aston University will provide them with top-notch academics with extensive industry expertise, making their studies rewarding. As long as they are honest, they will provide them with the support they require when it's needed.
Despite the fact that my course was online, my lecturers were incredibly kind and encouraging, and they gave me hope that there is still hope. I was able to establish wonderful relationships with my lecturers, who allowed me to see the world in a more positive light. As a result of this support, I was able to graduate as the best student."
If you could give one piece of career advice to your fellow Aston University alumni, what would it be?
"If I could give one piece of career advice to my fellow Aston University alumni, it would be to never stop learning and growing. The world is constantly evolving, so it's important to stay curious, adapt to new technologies and trends, and continue developing your skills. Embrace lifelong learning and seize every opportunity for personal and professional growth. You've got this!"
