What is Glam’d Africa and what is Konyin Skincare?
Glam'd Africa is a one-stop beauty and fashion store that was created to promote, guide and grow Nigerian owned brands. Our aim is to help businesses meet up with business best practices, give them access to a physical location at an affordable price and also expose them to the international market through exhibitions, media and activations
Konyin skincare line is a 100% plant-based skincare line that sources and manufactures all its products in Nigeria. Konyin skincare was created to promote beauty in all shades. We promote a healthier approach to skincare.
- Why did you choose to study at Aston University?
I wanted to have a legal background with knowledge of business and Aston was one of the only universities that offered a blend of these two disciplines. Also, it didn't hurt that they were ranked as one of the best business schools in the United Kingdom.
How did your course help you to become an entrepreneur?
The Aston learning experience in terms of the course content, the internationally diverse student and academic staff population prepared me with the skills and the confidence to do business in the 21st century anywhere in the world.
How did you start your business?
I saw a lot of raw talent in the fashion industry in Nigeria and not a lot of structure. Glam'd Africa was meant to bring fashion entrepreneurs together with the goal of penetrating not just the local market but also the global market.
What are your plans for Glam’d Africa and Konyin Skincare?
For Glam'd Africa, I would like to broaden the services we offer and create more international partnerships with our indigenous brands
With konyin skincare, I intend to do more in educating people about the benefits of natural skincare. Konyin skincare has also taken a step towards recycling and going green by launching our refill bars where our clients get to refill products at a cheaper price while also saving the environment “one bottle at a time”.
What advice would you give to future entrepreneurs?
Failing is no reason to give up, it’s just an extra lesson learnt.
