Bookmark Reading Charity 

Bookmark is a tech-led literacy charity supporting disadvantaged primary school children to give them a fairer chance in life. Currently one in four children leave primary school unable to read well. Bookmark help every child to be able to read through their flexible, volunteer-led programme.

Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteers needed to help a 5 to 8 year-old learn to read, developing their skills and confidence. Volunteers will read together, play games, and see the reader progress, all through a secure online platform. The programme involves 30-minute sessions with the same child, twice a week, for six weeks. You can book your programme through the Bookmark app and select sessions at times that work with your schedule.

Children Heard and Seen support children, young people and their families who are impacted by parental imprisonment.

Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteer mentors are needed to offer children a positive role model with which they can complete fun activities, whilst also giving them the freedom to talk openly about the adversity that they endure day to day. Mentoring sessions can be done in person, or remotely, and they are required to generally offer one hour of their time every week/every two weeks for a minimum of 6 months.
