Anawin - Birmingham's Centre for Women is a charity and holistic service for women struggling with emotional, practical, domestic or personal problems. 

Volunteer Opportunity

Anawim have a charity shop on Edward Road, Balsall Heath and require volunteers to help run the store. They are looking for someone with good communication and interpersonal skills and who can work well as part of a team. They are looking for at least 6 months commitment.

There are a variety of manual tasks around the gardens that need to happen throughout the year to keep visitors happy. These tasks provide a great opportunity for work colleagues to come together as a team and create a practical project in beautiful surroundings – very different to a normal day at the office!

Bookmark Reading Charity 

Bookmark is a tech-led literacy charity supporting disadvantaged primary school children to give them a fairer chance in life. Currently one in four children leave primary school unable to read well. Bookmark help every child to be able to read through their flexible, volunteer-led programme.

Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteers needed to help a 5 to 8 year-old learn to read, developing their skills and confidence. Volunteers will read together, play games, and see the reader progress, all through a secure online platform. The programme involves 30-minute sessions with the same child, twice a week, for six weeks. You can book your programme through the Bookmark app and select sessions at times that work with your schedule.

Children Heard and Seen

Children Heard and Seen support children, young people and their families who are impacted by parental imprisonment.

Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteer mentors are needed to offer children a positive role model with which they can complete fun activities, whilst also giving them the freedom to talk openly about the adversity that they endure day to day. Mentoring sessions can be done in person, or remotely, and they are required to generally offer one hour of their time every week/every two weeks for a minimum of 6 months.

Volunteers required to support with football coaching and managing children. Rising Stars will help volunteers obtain an FA Level 1 coaching qualification and pay for travel expenses.

Requirements:
1. DBS check (Rising Stars will facilitate this)
2. Sporting background / experience preferred.
3. Some experience working with children.
4. Available Saturday and Sunday.

SEND Socials Birmingham supports children with special educational needs and disabilities.
