As Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Osama Khan will play a leading role in driving our new academic strategy in line with the Aston University 2030 Strategy. He will consolidate and lead our comprehensive academic portfolio which includes education, online curriculum transformation, modularised and lifelong learning strategy, student experience and student services, careers and placements, library, and information services. This is a critical pillar of Aston’s 2030 Strategy, which aims to establish Aston as a leader in educational innovation, digital transformation, student experience, employability, and social mobility. 
 
Osama is a proven academic leader and innovator, who has achieved sector-leading outcomes in student experience and educational quality. His strong commitment to values-based leadership aligns with our approach to working with our people and the diverse communities we serve.

Educated at Independent University Bangladesh, the University of Surrey and Cambridge University, Osama began his academic career as a lecturer (and then senior teaching fellow) at the University of Surrey in 2004. He moved to Solent University in 2012, where he held a variety of roles including Director of Learning and Teaching at Solent Learning and Teaching Institute. He was appointed as Vice-Provost, Education at the University of Surrey in 2019, and more recently as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) driving the academic strategy, digital transformation in education, and the consolidation of student experience and student services at the University of Surrey.
