Aston Business School has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the CISI, which sets the course for Aston University to be designated as a CISI Centre of Excellence.
The Memorandum, signed with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), commits the University to future excellence in finance education in line with the mission of the CISI.
Aston Business School finance students are given student membership of the CISI upon enrolment allowing them access to a range of professional networking and career development opportunities. In the future, the students will gain the opportunity to complete professional qualifications such as CISI Diplomas, whilst studying.
The partnership between a Charted Institute and higher education institution is seen as an excellent opportunity for students to bridge the gap between academia and the work place.
Ruth Martin, Managing Director of the CISI, said: “We are very much looking forward to working more closely with Aston Business School and developing new initiatives to further advance finance education for the region and beyond.”
Jim Steeley, Professor of Finance and Head of the Finance and Accounting Group at ABS said: “We’re delighted to be working with the CISI and to be working towards recognition as a centre for excellence. This partnership will provide students with further opportunities to gain a professional qualification alongside a degree. This can only enhance the vocational outcome for our students.”
