Access to the Professions
Organised jointly by Aston University and top employers in Birmingham and London, our employer engagement events allow students access to the professions. Each day is designed to increase students' understanding of the range of employment opportunities available to them and the essential soft skills which employers look for in the world of work. Events take place at the company’s offices, allowing students a once in a life time opportunity to gain inside perspective and careers advice from the industry experts themselves. 

Held in Capgemini’s offices in Central London, this event is aimed at Year 12 and 13 students who have a genuine interest in discovering more about the various roles and professions within a global business and IT innovator. The day will allow students to gain inside perspective through networking with the experts and learning insider top tips on surviving the application process. Through interactive workshops students will practice assessment centres and digital interviews and gain a greater understanding of how to develop the essential soft skills which employers look for in the world of work. The day will culminate in a behind the scenes tour of Capgemini's innovation lab. 

 A maximum of 5 students per school or college in the first instance.  

Held at St Philips Law Chambers in Birmingham City Centre, this conference invites Year 12 and 13 students to discover more about studying for a Law degree and pursuing a career in this profession. In the morning, students will hear from one of Aston University's Law academics who will discuss top tips on applying for a law degree at university and advice on how to write an effective personal statement. In the afternoon, sessions will be delivered from a range of professionals from within the industry and will include advice on how to get to the bar and the different specialisms within the law. Students will also have the opportunity to network with experts over lunch and during our question and answer session at the end of the day.

An exciting opportunity for Year 12 and 13 students to learn about the variety of careers available at two of the largest global businesses in Birmingham. Held at Deutsche Bank’s offices in Brindley Place, students will be able to network with experts, put their numeracy skills to the test in a trading game and learn how to put together a winning application!

Held in Ernst and Young's offices in central London, this event is aimed at sixth form students who want to discover more about the various roles and professions within Ernst and Young. The day will give students an inside perspective through networking with experts, learning top tips on surviving the application process and advice on developing essential soft skills needed for career success.

Held at Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) Engine Manufacturing factory in Wolverhampton, this event will provide students with a unique inside perspective of the UK's largest automotive manufacturing business. Throughout the day pupils will learn about JLR’s innovative global marketing strategies in addition to its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, before getting the chance to explore behind the scenes at JLR’s Engine Manufacturing Centre. 

Learners will also be given the opportunity to explore the vast range of career opportunities within the automotive industry and hear from JLR’s recent University graduates. Finally, pupils will discover the different training opportunities available within the company and explore the skills that employers, like JLR, are looking for in the next generation of engineers.

Please note, for health and safety reasons students MUST be accompanied by a teacher for the duration of this event. A maximum of 10 students per school or college in the first instance. 

Organised jointly by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Aston University, this conference is aimed at Year 12 and 13 students who have a genuine interest in Accountancy, Finance and Business. The conference is held at PricewaterhouseCoopers offices in Birmingham City Centre and gives students the opportunity to learn about studying these subjects at university and how to put together a strong application, as well as gaining an insight into one of the most prestigious companies in the world.
