Access to the Professions
Organised jointly by Aston University and top employers, our employer engagement activities allow students to access the professions. Each event is designed to increase students' understanding of the range of employment opportunities available to them and the essential soft skills which employers look for in the world of work. Some events will even take place at the company’s offices, allowing students a once in a life time opportunity to gain inside perspective and careers advice from industry experts.

Held in Capgemini’s offices in London, this event is aimed at bright Year 12 and Level 3 students who have a genuine interest in discovering more about the various roles and professions within a global business and IT innovator. The day will allow students to gain inside perspective through networking with the experts, learning top tips on surviving the application process and information on how to develop the essential soft skills which employers look for in the world of work. 

 A maximum of 5 students per school or college in the first instance.  

Held at St Philips Law Chambers in Birmingham City Centre, this conference invites Year 12-13 and Level 3 students to discover more about studying for a Law degree and pursuing a career in Law. Sessions include top tips on applying for a degree as well as insightful sessions from a range of professionals within the industry. Students are expected to stay for the duration of the event.

The Access to the Professions Conference is designed to provide students with the opportunity to access careers information in order to aid their future decision making processes. Companies from across a wide range of sectors facilitate interactive, career-focused workshops that enable students to experience a taster session and gain understanding of a particular profession. They also give them the opportunity to liaise directly with employers about entry routes into their professions. 

During the conference, students will have the opportunity to attend sessions that focus on developing vital skills to assist them during the recruitment process and hear from academics at Aston University about higher education and how a degree can help them break into their chosen industry. 

 A maximum of 50 students per school or college in the first instance and a maximum of 15 students on each Academic Stream in the first instance. 

Held at Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) Engine Manufacturing factory in Wolverhampton, this event will provide students with a unique inside perspective of the UK's largest automotive manufacturing business. Throughout the day pupils will learn about JLR’s innovative global marketing strategies in addition to its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, before getting the chance to explore behind the scenes at JLR’s Engine Manufacturing Centre. 

Learners will also be given the opportunity to explore the vast range of career opportunities within the automotive industry and hear from JLR’s recent University graduates. Finally, pupils will discover the different training opportunities available within the company and explore the skills that employers, like JLR, are looking for in the next generation of engineers.

Please note, for health and safety reasons students MUST be accompanied by a teacher for the duration of this event. A maximum of 10 students per school or college in the first instance.

This conference is organised jointly by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Aston University and is aimed at bright Year 12 -13 and Level 3 students who have a genuine interest in Accountancy, Finance and Business. The conference is held at PricewaterhouseCoopers offices in Birmingham City Centre and gives students the opportunity to learn about studying these subjects and how to put together a strong application, as well as gaining an insight into one of the most prestigious companies in the world.

Join us at Aston University for an exciting opportunity for year 12 and 13 students to improve their understanding of Degree Apprenticeships. Students will explore the degree apprenticeship route through a range of engaging activities and presentations. This event will explain what degree apprenticeships are, how they compare to the traditional degree route, what roles are available and how to apply. 

They'll hear from degree apprentices studying at Aston University who will share their experience and their reasons for picking this route. Aston's partner employers will be discussing what they look for in an apprentice and offering their top tips for applying. This interactive event will give students the opportunity to improve their key skills and develop their personal brand through workshops. 

The event will take place on Wednesday 28th March, 9.15am - 2pm at Conference Aston Meeting Suites on the Aston University Campus.

An exciting opportunity for students who are interested in working in Healthcare to learn more about different career options and speak to healthcare professionals.

During the day, exhibitors will be running stalls with information and interactive activities to inspire students from varied healthcare organisations and disciplines, such as Optometry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Nutrition and Medicine.

Students can also sign up to talks and workshops on the day for more in-depth exploration into their future careers and achieving their goals. These breakout sessions will include:
